In January 2010, SCEDA published the Blueprint for Economic Development. The purpose of this document is to provide to candidates offering for public office in 2010 SCEDA's views on certain key economic development matters. In particular, SCEDA recognizes the importance of a strong governor and a strong, fully-funded Department of Commerce in promoting the economic development of our state.
The membership of SCEDA is focused on recruiting and expanding capital investment and creating jobs, with a particular focus on industrial, high technology ,and headquarters recruitment and expansion. While SCEDA recognizes the importance of key economic drivers such as tourism, agriculture, and small business, those drivers are not the focus of this document. Typically, the companies with which SCEDA members work are those which are making investments of at least $1 million and creating at least 10 new, full-time jobs.
SCEDA believes that the four points discussed below are critical to the economic competitiveness of our state.
