Chesterfield County, South Carolina, population 43,191+ is centrally located between Charlotte, NC, Columbia and Florence, SC. The county is currently seeking an experienced economic development professional to direct the Chesterfield County Economic Development Board. 

The preferred candidate will have graduated from an accredited college or university with extensive work in planning, economics, marketing or business administration or the equivalent of training and experience in economic development or closely related field. County residency and frequent travel are required. Preferable -professional certifications CEcD, SCCED, or other related Economic Development Coursework such as SCEDS, BEDC or EDI.

The Executive Director directs the County’s economic development program;  encourages new industry investment and creation of new job opportunities within the county; directs and supervises staff; develops and administers budgets; coordinates & executes marketing efforts;  responds to prospects with professional and creative inducement proposals; responsible for program/staff to support existing industry; manages planning and development of new sites/parks and  speculative buildings;  develops and reviews short and long term strategic economic development plans and works toward gaining political support and funding for initiatives. The Executive Director reports to the County Administrator.
