Economic Development Project Manager, Greenville, SC

The Greenville Area Development Corporation is taking applications for a Project Manager. The primary duties include managing leads and prospects, making presentations, showing real estate, negotiating incentives, and leveraging local resources to secure investment in Greenville County.  The ideal candidate should have a basic knowledge of economic development, the ability to multi-task and solve problems, excellent presentation and writing skills as well as the ability to establish effective working relationships within Greenville and be a team player. Accountability: Responsible for assisting the design and management of the economic development program in the Authority's service area. Also, works directly with other economic development professionals across the state to support the industrial expansion in the cooperative service territories.

 

Qualifications Background:  Bachelors degree in surveying or civil engineering with emphasis in management and marketing and a minimum of five years management level experience in an electric utility environment is required.  OR an Associates degree with 10 years of electrical utility experience and professional registration will be considered. A combination of land management, surveying, land acquisition, real estate development and related disciplines is preferred.  Surveying or engineering registration preferred. A strong background in surveying is required. Must have exceptional oral and written communications skills.

Physical Requirements:  Kneeling, crouching,, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing pulling, lifting, finger, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions.  This position involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects (light work).  Must meet minimum visual requirements for terminal operators.

Apprenticeship Carolina™

Apprenticeship Carolina™, the SC Technical College System’s new registered apprenticeship initiative, is currently seeking three (3) Apprenticeship Consultants.  These individuals will be responsible for initiating outreach to South Carolina employers, presenting the advantages of registered apprenticeship as a workforce development tool, and guiding employers’ registered apprenticeship development process from origin to completion.  Candidates should be self-starters with excellent communication and client relationship management skills, who are capable of brokering successful relationships among employers, educational institutions, and workforce development organizations.  The positions will be based in Columbia but will hold regional responsibilities and successful candidates will be the lead technical expert for Apprenticeship Carolina™ in the assigned geographic region.

Marion County - Economic Development Director

Marion County is seeking an Economic Development Director. Plans, organizes and directs all programs and activities of the Economic Development Department, with emphasis on creating and implementing strategies to enhance the economic well-being of the Marion County area. Recruits and negotiates with industry representatives to encourage location in the County area; meets with elected officials to discuss incentive recommendations for prospects. This position reports to the County Administrator.  Requires a Bachelor’s degree in urban or regional planning, business or public administration, economics, finance, marketing or other related field with five to six years of experience in public administration, economics or marketing; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. The selected candidate must also submit to a pre-employment drug screening.
