The Institute - South Carolina Economic Development Institute
The South Carolina Economic Development Institute (The Institute), formerly known as The South Carolina Economic Development School (SCEDS), will offer a highly interactive curriculum to this year’s participants, affording them a greater "hands-on” economic development learning experience. The Institute, a twenty-five year partnership between the South Carolina Department of Commerce and the South Carolina Economic Developers' Association, has graduated more than 1,075 participants since its inception.

About The Institute
The Institute serves to educate those who support and participate in economic development activities in their communities while providing unique and innovative development approaches for implementation in local communities. Attendees who successfully complete each of the 2016 Institute's four sessions will earn a Certificate of Completion.Who Should Attend?The Institute is open to participants from a wide variety of organizations and entities:

- Local Economic Development Practitioners

Schedule and Topics
The Institute is comprised of four two-day sessions held in different locations around the state. The 2016 schedule is as follows:
February 11-12: Leadership and Communication Skills - North Charleston
May 12-13: Community Development and Tourism - Hartsville
August 11-12: Business and Industrial Development - Spartanburg
November 10-11: Product Development - McCormick
*Attendees who wish to earn an Institute certificate are required to attend all sessions in consecutive order beginning with Session I.
