Do you Really Want to Know Me?

The way through racial tension is knowledge.  Not academic knowledge but experiential knowledge.  Meeting someone at a networking event or working in the same organization or office doesn’t mean you know them.  You may know of them, but do you know their story?  Do you know where they came from or what they have experienced?  Kelvin Waites was born in Harlem, raised in Charleston, and currently serves as the Chief of Police in the City of Georgetown, SC.

Please join fellow SCEDA members for a Lunch and Learn presented by the SCEDA Emerging Leaders Committee on September 22, 2020, from 11:30 to 1:30 for Kelvin’s presentation of “Do you really want to know me?”

The presentation looks at the foundation of how and why we see the world the way we do.  Kelvin will lead a discussion around how we can learn to see diversity as a strength and why it matters that we really get to know one another.
