The South Carolina Certified Economic Developer (SCCED) Designation is earned by completing the SCEDA Advanced Symposium program. SCCED candidates are required to complete all four two-day sessions plus a one-day presentation session.
All current SCCEDs will be required to renew their certification by December 31, 2018, by earning 24 points. SCCEDs are required to maintain documentation of their continuing education and submit that information upon renewal.
Questions about eligible points must be submitted to the Professional Development Committee. Please direct your questions to email@example.com.
Points Eligibility – Professional development activities that are eligible for recertification points should be focused on continuing education, not party/event planning, networking, or work associated with one’s job responsibilities. In addition, as a SCEDA program, SCCED recertification emphasizes participation in SCEDA and attendance at SCEDA-sponsored events.
SCCEDs are required to earn 24 points and attend one two-day session of the Advanced Symposium per three-year renewal period.
SCCEDs may utilize the SCCED Recertification Application for tracking points: click here.
The available credits reflect the total amount for each event,
assuming that one attended the entire time. However, if a participant
only attended a portion of an event, the credits claimed should be
reduced to reflect actual attendance.
The committee does not believe
that obtaining 24 points of eligible credits over a 3-year period should
be difficult. Focus on activities that are SCEDA-related, as outlined
above. If your participation in these types of events does not total the
required 24 points, then contact the committee for determination on the
eligibility of other events/activities.
